Overview

Ten Hill Place Hotel is one of Edinburgh’s premier city centre hotels just 0.5 miles from Edinburgh Waverley Rail Station. Opened in 2006, this 4-star modern hotel is situated in a quiet Georgian square, still within walking distance of all the city’s main attractions - 5 minutes’ walk from the Royal Mile, the focal point of the annual Edinburgh Festival and Edinburgh’s main shopping area of Princes Street, overlooked by the iconic Edinburgh Castle, only a 15 minute walk away.

Ten Hill Place Hotel is owned by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and all profits made from the Hotel are invested into the training of surgeons worldwide.

You can stay well connected with free Wi-Fi throughout the Hotel.

A lot of thought and care has gone into creating the air-conditioned bedrooms. A palette of calming colours and textures provides each room with a warm richness. Each well-equipped and spacious room has a sleek bathroom and a flat-screen TV with Freeview channels. Beds are all king or super-king with allergy-free duvets and pillows and a choice of soft or firm mattresses. Personal safes, ironing boards, hairdryers, tea, coffee and shortbread are standard in all rooms. The skyline rooms also include an exercise bike, towelling robes and slippers.

No. Ten Restaurant serves dinner from 5pm and has recently received its first AA rosette for culinary excellence. 10 Wine Bar is open from midday and serves light lunches and evening meals as well as a selection of wines, locally produced beers and spirits.

According to independent reviews, Ten Hill Place Hotel is located in our guest’s favourite part of Edinburgh.

We currently have the highest accolade in green tourism awards and aim to be a sustainable and eco-friendly hotel.

    Good

Room was very comfortable, if small. Good distance from local attractions. We got a good price for our room.

Hotel staff weren't overly friendly, particularly wait staff in restaurant- it was difficult to make eye contact to ask for tea / coffee etc. The location was good in terms of close to the city centre and sights of Edinburgh, however it was a very seedy part of town: didn't feel completely safe walking to or from the hotel. Breakfast was far too expensive for what was on offer, and not of very high quality. Car parking at the hotel was very expensive.

    Very good

Modern, clean, helpful staff, good it facilities, excellent breakfast and a basic menu available much of the time, good information file in the room.

Marked the comfort down as 'fair' because we had booked a double 'de luxe' room which turned out to be only really suitable as a single room. Necessary to move around it sideways between the cramped furnishings. Difficult to know how one would go about finding out about the specific room when booking on line. Would use the hotel again but only by direct booking with firm information about the room. This difficulty is why we could only recommend it with reservations.

    Fabulous

Easy access to city centre, the Royal College and helpful staff.

No trouser press or minibar facility

the location was good once we found the hotel

the attitude of the staff was so horrid, nothing was explained properly and the were unhelpful, i would never stay here again or recommend the hotel.

    Superb

I liked that it was so close to the city and still fairly quiet. Our view of Arthur's seat was beautiful. The room was spotless and tastefully decorated and the staff were very friendly (a little difficult to understand).

I didn't particularly like the glass door into the bathroom. I don't think I got the delux double room in comparison to the one our friends got.

Small room, poor breakfast buffet (at least for non-local), needed an extra hour for check out and wanted to charge me for that

    Fabulous

Excellent standard of room and facilities. Nice welcome, good breakfast with fresh options different and better than most hotels

Price was more due to six nations rugby but then so was every where

    Very good

The room was very stylishly done and comfortable. The hotel was centrally located, just a 10 minute walk from Waverley.

My partner arrived before me at about 1pm. Knowing that this was before check-in time, he wanted to see if there was a chance of checking in or at least leaving his luggage (a reasonable request, given that the 3pm check-in time is very late). He was allowed to leave his luggage only after dealing with a discourteous receptionist. A shame, as the other staff were all polite - the exception was this Scottish 'lass', who seemed unable to muster a pleasant word or smile to anyone for our entire stay (surely prerequisites for someone at reception).

    Fabulous

Comfort of the hotel with the close proximity to the city

Everything over the weekend was prefect the only thing that spoilt the comfort was the quality of the pillows which was poor

    Very good

Pleasant and helpful staff. Excellent buffet breakfast (though top ups of coffee not easy to access).

Glass door on bathroom dangerous for elderly/infirm. Paucity of toiletries and towels.Lack of bedside clock.

    Exclusive

The room was very clean a good size and was very comfortable. the room had a very young and or modern feel. The room was ready early and we were able to check in early before 9 am. The hotel was within a five minute walk to the castle and a ten minute walk to High Street.

    Very good

Everything is fine with the hotel It's in good place, very close to the high street, the Edinburgh castle, Princess street, also close to the bus stop, where the bus to the Ocean Terminal can take You directly to the Britannia Yacht.

The bathroom was a bit cold, but this didn't cause much problem.
